Why Choose Boxwood?

Boxwood have been in existence around the world for over 6,000 years. They are considered man’s oldest garden ornamental. Boxwood are believed to be in North America since 1652 (a Long Island plantation). Currently, there are 115 different cultivars and species available commercially. This minimizes a ‘sameness’ look when planning your landscape architecture; boxwood do not all look the same.

Deer and other wildlife are aware of the toxicity of boxwood and do not eat them. Boxwood are extremely popular in rural and suburban areas where this wildlife may be a problem.

Boxwood are generally slow growers and requires minimal maintenance in terms of pruning or replanting. The boxwood plant has proven to be durable; with a minimum of care, gardens maintain their attractiveness. They have a stately beauty that is maintained throughout the year (they do not lose their leaves with seasonal changes).
